February 2012 Meeting

Responsive Web Design - Popular practices & techniques

Given the tremendous growth of the mobile space in the recent years, it's not surprising to see that more and more people are surfing the web on their smart phones and tablets. Trying to view a website on a phone, that was not optimized for a mobile device, not only causes bad user experience but also could discourage user adoption.

In this session, we'll talk about Responsive Web Design - the methodology of using fluid grids, fluid layouts and @media queries to adapt your website to different screen sizes on today’s (and tomorrow’s) web & thus providing a great user experience.

About Girish Gangadharan

Girish Gangadharan just became a father and is super excited about it. He's also excited about writing awesome code (read: code built on S.O.L.I.D principles), to solve business problems.

He has over 7 years of experience building software for clients ranging all the way from small mom & pop shops to multi billion dollar corporations.

And for people that believe in certifications, well, he's got a bunch of those too (Transcript ID: 802296 Access code: 15963282).

He spends a lot of time thinking, studying and researching about building better UX for software applications. He loves to write clean, concise, well-commented, beautiful code that not only solves the problem in hand but also is a pleasure to support & maintain.

He's the author of Sass For Visual StudioSelect SearchAutoSilencer and the man behind the huge UX initiative at his company (uxd.absg.com).

He's done several presentations in the past, and the most recent talk was on jQuery & SketchFlow at Tulsa Techfest.
